For me, the photography is the trace of the past, of the forgotten memory.
My photographic story begins in 2002, after the flooding of my village. A dike gave way, swallowing up the roof the family home under four meters of water. Strangely, the biggest shock of this disaster for me was the loss of all my childhood photos, my precious memories.
Then followed a devouring period where I took photos by thousands. An absolute need to document everything, a fear of forgetting my own life again. A vital impetus to catch up with what I could no longer catch up with: my lost, forgotten, erased childhood.
I wandered in all areas of Art and Philosophy as an autodidact.
My fragmented artistic approach took a new turn recently, through photography, during a stay in New York. The epiphany of forty years of wandering, the beginning of something new and exciting. All my artistic and life experiences were unified.
The perpetual astonishment of childhood has nourished my gaze, and it defines me in all layers of life. This gaze always presents a different perspective on what it experiences, feels, and sees. It is perpetual creation, emerging directly and disappearing immediately, immersed in the pure present.
Just like a fleeting dream that one attempts to write down or remember in the early morning, it fades and disappears. Such is my existence.
I have never experienced the world in a pragmatic way. My reality travels the crossroads of grace, aesthetics, poetry, meaning, simplicity, and perspective. These are some of the words that hum and resonate with me like the nectar of a wonderful melody.
My eyes are aesthetic, conceptual, and wandering, often amused. Since my youth, I have viewed everyday reality through a magical prism.
